Ellen Weintraub, a commissioner in the Federal Election Commission, debunked President Donald Trump's claim that expanding mail-voting will lead to widespread fraud.
" There's simply no basis for the conspiracy theory that voting by mail causes fraud. None," said Weintraub in a 66-post Twitter thread.
In the thread, she links to numerous news reports debunking the claim, and citing Republicans who support mail-voting measures.

It looks like the executive order threatened by President Trump against social media companies has leaked.
Law professor Kate Klonick published what she claimed was a draft of the order via Twitter.
The draft order targets a section of US law that has historically meant big tech platforms such as Facebook and Twitter aren't legally responsible for what their users post.
Trump is expected to formally sign the order Thursday, after a dispute with Twitter over fact-checking his tweets.

Twitter has labeled two tweets from Chinese government spokesman Lijan Zhao with a fact-check icon.
Twitter applied the label to the tweets after being questioned by the New York Post over a potential double standard, following the company's decision to fact-check tweets from President Trump.
Zhao's tweets are from mid-March, and in them he suggests the US army could have been responsible for bringing the coronavirus to Wuhan.

Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg told Fox News on Wednesday that his platform would not follow Twitter and fact-check claims by President Donald Trump.
"I believe strongly that Facebook shouldn't be the arbiter of truth of everything that people say online," said Zuckerberg.
On Tuesday, Twitter for the first time added a fact-check warning to a false claim that Trump made about mail-in voting.
In response, Trump is preparing to sign an executive order erasing legal protections that social media companies have against being sued for what people say on their platforms.
