Spain likely to surpass the US as the world's second most popular destination

As per the UNWTO, Spain is most likely to replace the United States as the world's second most popular tourism destination with France retaining the top spot. The UNWTO head Zurab Pololikashvili said that it is expected that Spain will take the second position with 82 million visitors last year. Definitive figures will be published in the spring.
However, Pololikashvili did not give any details about why Spain took the second spot despite a terror attack in August and an independence crisis in tourism hotspot Catalonia, home to Barcelona and the Costa Brava. Europe grabbed the top spot...
