Indian tourism launches campaign for highlighting women's safety in the country

The tourism ministry of India has said that the 2012 murder had led to tougher anti-rape laws and four out of five women tourists felt safe in the country. The ministry urged all government offices to publicize these facts for addressing concerns of people visiting India.
A letter from the tourism ministry highlighted support mechanisms, such as one-stop centres and women's helplines that have been set up since 2012. Legal changes are now initiating tougher punishments for offences against women, including for acid attacks and stalking.
