Someone impersonating a Washington Post reporter allegedly offered to pay women to make false claims against Alabama Senate candidate Roy Moore

At least one person said he received a robocall from someone trying to impersonate a Washington Post reporter.
The impersonator claimed he was willing to pay at least $5,000 to women who were "willing to make damaging remarks" about Roy Moore, the Republican nominee for an Alabama senate seat.
Other people appear to be smearing The Post, who first published the news of Moore's sexual assault scandal.

Top Republicans have been publicly floating the idea of having Attorney General Jeff Sessions mount a write-in campaign for the Alabama Senate seat currently being sought by Roy Moore, who faces multiple sexual misconduct allegations.
Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell has reportedly discussed the idea of having Sessions appointed to the Senate seat should Moore be elected and removed from office.
Sessions appears unlikely to agree to either plan, according to those close to him.

The embattled Alabama Senate candidate Roy Moore just lost the financial backing of the Republican Party as he faces multiple allegations of sexual misconduct with underaged girls. According to a senior party official cited by Politico, the RNC pulled out of its joint fundraising agreement with Moore's campaign.
At least five women have accused Moore of varying degrees of sexual harassment - including one woman who said on Monday that Moore assaulted her in the 1970s when she was 16 and he was in his 30s.
