Business travel doesn't always have to send employees to undesirable destinations. Oftentimes, the international trips can land travelers in some of the world's most beautiful cities.
According to Concur Technologies, more than $50 billion was spent on corporate travel in 2013.
Each quarter, companies are spending more than $700 on each employee for airfare and more than $600 on hotel stays, totaling upwards of $2,500 per traveler each quarter on plane tickets, lodging, dining, entertainment, ground transportation and car rentals.

Electronic devices targeted in new security measures at overseas airports

Professionals who will be overseas on international business travel may be required to leave their electronic devices behind amid concerns regarding a new security threat. According to Reuters, the Transportation Transportation Administration is not allowing cellphones or other electronic devices on U.S.-bound flights from certain airports in Europe and the Middle East if devices are not charged and able to turn on.

Business travel intentions hit 7-year peak, leisure travel on the rise

A new survey conducted by MMGY Global found that business travel intentions are on the rise in the U.S. According to the source, 30 percent of U.S. adults are planning to take at least one business trip by the end of 2014, a seven-year high.
The results of the survey also showed that business travel intentions are up seven points from the same time period in 2013.
